i'm a pharmacist for cvs, are we allowed to wear sneakers? the women get away with wearing whatever they want but ive seen some guy pharmacists wearing white running shoes with dress pants. is this allowed?

I wear Black Nike Shox. District Pharmacy Supervisor has seen me before wearing sneakers and hasn't said a word. However, one time he saw me without the white coat on a particularly hot day and wasn't happy.
 
The dress code for males is:


  • No Jeans of any kind or color
  • No Shorts
  • Dress Shirt
  • Tie
  • Lab Coat
  • No open toed shoes (Also applies to women it's an OSHA regulation)
 
white sneakers and dress pants are never, ever acceptable.
 
Get a pair of Sketcher's or Doc Marten's. These look like Oxfords, but are comfortable enough to stand/walk in all day.

I'll stick with sneakers until the kids are out of college and I can afford Bruno Magli and Ferragamo...
 
Crocs all terrain in black and tan. The most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I also have custom made inserts from a podiatrist. I usually make it to hour 10 of a 12 hour day before the feet start to protest a little.
 
Ehh, when you're standing around all day, you want something that gives you a little spring to your feet and shock absorbs. Unfortunately, I have flat feet so after 4 hours, I need to sit down (another reason I wouldn't have made it in the Navy, I kinda wanted to join the Seals when I was in high school).

I have completely flat feet with not even a hint of arch. Size 13 EEE. Never stopped me from doing what I wanted including the Army.

It is hard to find shoes that fit right. When I find a pair I buy at least three pairs in case I cannot find them again. Right now the Crocs seem to be the best. That and the custom made insoles.

i will give in, a little. crocs are ok with scrubs.

i don't, however, understand the correlation b/t kids and not wearing dress shoes.

If you're gonna stand around all day, you would have to be out of your mind to consider wearing dress shoes. IMO, never sacrifice comfort for looks/professionalism.

Kids require money to be raised. Dress shoes also require a lot of money to be bought.

Can't afford shoes that will be comfortable for 12 hours. Have tried many brands over the years.
 
men's dress shoes are an investment.
if you get them properly fitted, or custom made, you will only have to buy one pair, maybe two in a lifetime.
much cheaper than a pair or two of ugly shoes every year

pharmacy HAS to be the most unstylish profession

Shirt, tie, slacks, and running shoes.

Screw you about style or professional dress.

My feet don't hurt after a 12hr shift.

Anywhere else though, it is the Kenneth Cole dress shoes.
 
typically black wing tips with business suit or bare foot with jeans and t shirt. depends on out or in.

Right now I'm investing all of my money in my kids and my vacation getaway. I'll invest in my wardrobe when they are done with college.

there isn't a day that goes by that I don't have a complement for how i dress and I rock sneakers a good amount of the time.

rockports work fine for me, usually can find them for <$100.

sparda --- short sleeve lab coat for the hot days!

Dude, even with the short sleeve lab coat, it's still another frikkin layer. I don't understand why CVS can't just have the store and pharmacy temperature set permanently to like 60 degrees. Cold is better than hot, if you feel cold, just toss on another layer, if you feel hot, you're screwed.
 
the pharmacist i worked with this summer wear
sneakers all the time. and at times she walks
bare feet back n forth. not considering the dis-
respect she gives the profession, i would think
the carpet is rather dirty to walk on bare feet.
but no one said anything.

our a/c would be blasting, then again, it would only be in the 80's with no humidity outside in the summer. i think once our a/c was busted, so i'd take water and wipe it on my face/arms...it was great.

yeah i don't get why people walk in bare feet out of the house but wear shoes in the house, boggles my mind. it'd disgusting and backwards.

I don't use water for that. I use ethyl alcohol.
