SO and I applied EDP to one of our state schools. SO got accepted and I was put on hold. After that, I notified that we were engaged but they did not show too much interest. We have very similar stats, with SO being slightly better. I just got put on the waitlist. Also, we just got married this past weekend and I was curious if that fact would help my chances of getting off of the waitlist or if it would not change anything.

I don't think another letter will change anything. They know you will accept if picked up from the WL. Did you apply to other schools in the neighboring states after being released from your ED application?

No I did not as there were none within 2 hours from the school.

I would let the school know that you are now married and highly motivated to attend if accepted.

You don’t think it is too much to send notice twice?

To address a potential reapplication, I would set up an appointment with the admissions office and ask about what happened with your last EDP. What do they suggest to improve your chances at an EDP for the upcoming cycle? Handle your marriage lightly; it should be evident from your application history and your ring.

I agree with this but I don't think a school will meet with a student who is still in the active application cycle.
That kind of meeting would have to wait until the cycle is over, or in the best case scenario, it won't be needed if you get in from the WL.

Again, since it's EDP and they have to get everything in so early, I don't know how individual schools handle reapps on WL's who would consider an EDP reapplicant. At least I'd send a message for an EDP appointment with a little update, maybe? 😉 I always say one should connect with admissions before sending in an EDP, so hopefully this advice doesn't conflict with it. (I can see how I would have answered this scenario, but I'm unsure the adcom policy would be the same.)
