so i just found out that my premed committee STILL hasnt sent out my LORs, even though they are all set to go... ive been in there once a week for the last 6 weeks and keep getting lip service...finally, they promised to send them this afternoon and apologized profusely...

HOWEVER, they LOST my letter from the DO!!! i dont know what to do..im so embarrassed to ask her to re-send it.. at this point, im so angry i could jump out of my skin.....

christine,

is it common to give your pre-committee all your letters (including those from a DO, or other employer, volunteering)?

my committee advisor seems to be the same way (a friend of mine missed a deadline bc she didnt have her letter ready), and i am nervous now!

i think you should totally ask the DO again, chances are, she did it on the computer and saved the file! and remember, shes a doctor, so she had to do all this once too!

good luck with all of this, i am sure med schools know this crap can happen!

I would just explain the situation to the DO and ask politely for another. I'm sure she's done plenty of them in the past, so my guess is she has yours on file.

I wouldn't fret about this harming your chances for getting an interview(s). You should still be ahead of the August MCAT takers (timewise), so don't worry. If indeed this display of laziness on your committee's part affects your application status, maybe have them call the respective schools you applied to and tell them they f***ed up...?

In addition to the good advice already posted, I would stay on those people hardcore. It's your future they are playing with. If you need to go grab them by the collar and walk them to the mailbox, then that's what you need to do.

There's no excuse for what you described. I had to stay on my 'service' as well. Not as bad as you've described, but I went down there a few times.

I completely bipassed the premed committee and just asked for letters directly from some of my science profs.

As for lost letters or anything else - your career, profession, your FUTURE is riding on this. Don't feel embarassed to ask for a new letter to replace the one you lost or anything else. Can you imagine looking back in 10 years I realizing how trivial that really was?
