Yeah, I know it's early. Many interviews are still coming. Still, I am seriously doubting myself at this point in the cycle. I am a decent applicant, but I know I underachieved quite a bit in a few ways, so I think there is a real possibility that I may end up having to reapply after this draining cycle. UGH.

But, as much as it sucks to think about how I might not get in this year, it's a little reassuring to think that I can probably come back with a stellar application next year.

Anyone else starting to think the same thing?

and I thought I was neurotic! its not even october yet! the application season is just taking off!

no i think so,it is right

I can answer this question better after october 15th, lol.

It's very early. Don't stress yourself out too much. Schools are interviewing for the next 6+ months.

I'm with you OP... starting to think about it! I've heard back from almost all the schools I applied to already (either rejections or holds), so reapplication is definitely a posibility right now! Although I know it's pointless to make plans just yet. Will just have to wait and see!

Some people (myself included) haven't even been marked complete at some schools. I think it's still a little early to be considering a re-application.

yes, it's early. if you don't have interviews by January, then come back. that would STILL be early, but at least then i could relate to where you're coming from.

if your nervous energy starts to get the better of you, then :idea:do something about it! pull your app apart for its flaws if you must, but consider then if there is something you can't be doing now for next year. New EC's come to mind. they can even be helpful this cycle if you get started soon... i had a terrible time writing updates to schools later in the cycle because i hadn't really done anything new/of note since i had submitted.

I can totally relate! I know its only September/October but I've already started looking at TFA/Americorp/SMPs. You are not alone!

The whole process is very daunting, and yes, you are not alone. I pray that it is still early, as people say. Hang in there.:xf:

It's hard not to feel completely daunted when it seems like everyone has an interview except you. 21 secondaries submitted and 3 schools (GW, UVM, AZ) have told me that I'm small pooled. Not a peep from anyone else and most of my apps were on their desks in mid-late August. Not even a rejection. I loathe the idea of taking the MCAT again while staying at this job but as soon as I finish this semester, it'll be time to hit the books again...

I seriously don't know what i'm going to do next year if i don't get in. I dont have the $$ for a postbac or SMP and the job market isn't too hopeful right now. I am very nervous about the possibility of needing to reapply.

Figure out how many of your schools inform students of rejections at this stage of the process. Not having a rejection yet might be a very good sign.

I know Drexel, Jefferson, and FIU do silent rejections. UCSF, UC Davis definitely do not. If I have time next week, I'm going to start calling to find out who does/does not do the silent rejections. While I completely understand that they're overwhelmed with applications, I feel that there is no excuse to do a silent rejection. If we're paying to apply, we should at least be told whether there's a chance or not.

Waaaay to early... If you've already been rejected at several schools, perhaps think about adding some more schools to your AMCAS/ect. There's still time! Have hope and good luck! :luck:

I definantly know how your feeling. I applied semilate (mid september) and am in the process of doing secondaries while I wait for verification. Unfortuently SDN hasn't been encouraging (too many OMG that's SO LATE. You'll never get in).

Iguess the only advantage is I'm graduating in December so if I do have to reapply, I'll have plenty of time to beef up my application (specificaly, retake MCAT cause my score was just mediocre).

The one thing my advisors always told me was to have a backup plan.

Mine. Get a job as an EMT-B, retake mcats in april/may and apply june 1st 😛 and save my secondary essays from this cycle.

The worst part about having to reapply is the money. The rest doesn't really matter imo. An extra year can be great if you have the money you need/ability to get a good job.
The feeling of getting rejected everywhere is the worst part. I've been through it, and I'm glad I'm past that stage. At the beginning of the cycle I doubted everything I did that was app-related but once I got a few invites I regained my confidence.

To anyone that thinks there is a decent chance of having to reapply (for example no invites even after a couple of months after completion) it's time to start beefing up your ECs (unless they are very strong already) soon.
