How much studying is required in medical school?

in my case, because of the theoretical nature of a lot of ugrad classes (chem, calc, physio, orgo physics etc.) I am lucky enough to not study that often. After a lecture I remember most of the material and only have to study about 1 hour a week, maybe 2 during midterms/finals (yes - 1 hour combined between all my classes)

My grades are good, but I feel like no matter how smart I am there is going to be a huge jump in the amount of time I will need to spend studying because there is no way around raw memorization in med school

so how many hours per day/week?

I was similar. I studied about 4 to 8 hours for an exam in undergrad per class.

If you include going to class 8am to noon-ish, I study around 10 to 12 hours a day, same for weekends.

Time spent studying will vary largely on an individual basis. Some people go to lecture and get a lot out of it, maybe spend a few hours after lecture reviewing things and preparing for the next day. Some people prefer not to go to lecture and instead watch lectures at double speed at home, or not do the lectures at all. Establish good, efficient study habits in undergrad and that will help you greatly. Med school classes are not easy/impossible to cram, so if you do that in undergrad, that's not going to last very long in med school.

On weekdays: 5 to 6 hours
Weekends vary anywhere from 8 to 12.
This coming from someone who gets very little from lecture.
