The interview was pretty darn strange. first off, I only had 1 letter of rec. in at the time of interview. I know that 2 is required before an interview but they looked passed that??? ANyhow, I had an appointment at 6:30, got there about 6:20ish. Gave the essay, finished at about 6:30 and he read it like in 20 seconds. Asked me the mandatory questions. I stumbled in the abortion question, it was so easy but I blanked out (sort of). OVerall the guy seemed extremely cool. older guy. In the middle of me explaining the two sides of abortion, his office phone rings and he answers it. NExt thing you know, he opened up for questions...I asked him what his experience was like and he answered with a quick respons. Next thing you know the interview is over!!!!!!! a whopping 15 minutes (not counting the essay). My stats are as follows: 3.88 overall GPA (3.94 science GPA) graduated with BS in chemistry from UC Irvine. 1 year research, over 80 hours red cross volunteer, clinical (30 hours) and mcat of 25O (11P, 10B, 4V). whats your guys take on it????

Sounds like a formality to me what with the grades, MCAT and ECs you have. I wouldn't worry about all that discourtesy if I were you.

with this kind of gpa why are you applying to SGU.

SOunds like the interview was to find out if you are nutty or not.
Maybe 15 minutes is all it took for him to make up his mind.

I hope to be doing interviews in the next year for SGU. I was able to answer questions at the ATL open house 2 months ago.

My take on this is that you are trying to brag on your stats a little bit and try to make everyone else feel bad about themselves. Sorry everyone is not perfect like you pal

what were the essay prompts that you were given?

essay prompts?!!?!!!?! holy ****????? what are you guys talking about? is there another essay included during the interview???

a 3.88 and 25 MCAT and you are worried about SGU? Is this for real? This must be one of the best applicants this year for SGU! like the top 25 ! LOL 2.8 and 24 get into SGU all the time. The interview is just a formality for this person, SGU wants them bad! This person could almost be paid by SGU to attend LOL! WOW.:meanie:

THanks guys.

And to the person who said that I am just trying to make people feel bad....what the heck are you talking about 😡 . I really hope that your joking buddy. ANyways, i'll let y'all know.

about the essay, its a simply question like "who influenced you the most..."

cool. i have an interview at sgu next week and a letter said there would be an essay. i was just worried what kind of essay it would be.
thanks.

choose one of the following:
1. who influenced you
2. what moment influenced you
3 give three characteristics of a good doctor

hope this helps.

His MCAT score is the problem for a US school. I had a 32 on the mcat about a 3.2 in Chemical Engineering and I didnt get in a US school. Many applicants at SGU have great numbers from great schools(Harvard, Yale, Stanford). Its just very competitive to get in a US school.

The interview is really just a screening process. If they grant you an interview you will most likely get in. You really have to blow the interview to get denied.

SGU usually denies you prior to the interview if your not what they are looking for.

I do have a few friends that were both rejected without an interview. They went to Ross.

Don't sweat the essay at all--most of the interviewers just consider it a formality.

Good luck!

You should retake your MCAT

I thought the Caribbean schools grant everyone an interview? Are you sure about SGU? I heard people getting interviews and then being rejected. Or getting thier interview now and getting into the august 2007 class?

The ones that are rejected probably gave them a reason to say 'no' as opposed to giving them every reason to give you a chance.
