Whats up guys, I just re-took the DAT yesterday and here is how it went?

Bio - 19
Gchem - 23
Ochem - 20
RC - 20
QR - 16
PAT - 16
TS - 20
AA - 20

I am a chemistry major with a gpa of 3.973. Should this be the last time I take the DAT?

Your TS and AA are great and you have an awesome GPA. The two 16s hurt you a bit though. You will probably get in almost anywhere, but if you have some schools on your list that are particularly competitive or put more weight on the PAT section (like UOP), then you might want to talk to someone at that school to get their opinion. Otherwise I'd say you are set, don't worry about it. You will probably get in to 92.7% of the schools you apply to.

You are fine. A mark of 16 on the PAT is about average these days. 16.4 was the average last year for all DAT takers on that section. Not especially great, but an acceptance score for you none the less. Also, QR is the hardest section for many applicants. For QR, 16.3 was the mean score last year for all DAT takers, so you are right there. Strangely enough, scores in those two sections have shown slight regression in recent years on the DAT. The averages for PAT and QR used to be closer to 17 for those two sections but are actually half-a-point lower now.

I say all that to basically mean that you are finished working on your stats. Just get your stuff sent in and interview well. You will be considered a very competitive applicant by most admissions committees.

To tell the truth, I have the averages from the official DAT user manual that a user posted on here that is published by the ADA. The latest info from this manual is from the 2005-2006 application cycle. I don't have the 2006-2007 averages yet for obvious reasons. If you run a search in the archives, I'm quite certain you will find it linked to PDF files. Search for ADA DAT guide/manual or similar. It is loaded with graphs and DAT analysis from year's past all the way to now.

DAT averages for ALL takers last year:

Quantitative Reasoning: 16.31
Reading Comprehension: 18.89
Biology: 17.24
General Chemistry: 17.15
Organic Chemistry: 16.99
Perceptual Ability: 16.35
Total Science: 17.12
Academic Average: 17.35
*A fourth of all DAT testers retested a second time.

I forgot to mention that although I do have a gpa of about 3.97 at loyola university new orleans, I did have a 3.2 that one katrina semester i spent at northwestern(chicago). I got a C+ in organic chemistry that semester : (
I am a junior right now, so i do have a little more time to make up for that semester. do you think that one semester will hurt me a lot?
