No need for a lawsuit. Also 2,800 isn't enough for a lawyer to take up the case because of court costs. If you want to go the lawsuit round, take the dentist to judge judy.

hi noyac, as i explained to arch guilotti i am well aware that my thread was somewhat questionable , but again, i do like to hear peoples opinion and value forumites input.
funny though that a thread against a dentist in an anesthesiology forum is being closed by a dentist;-))
no offense intended, fasto

Another Mod has come into our forum and started closing threads. This time it was a dentist closing a dental thread. 🙄

We should just start a new thread, "Problems with Dentists" where we can air our personal grievances against dentists in general.

I'll start.

1. The dental students where I'm at wear scrubs every single day of dental school - regardless if they're in the classroom, lab, or god forbid, approaching someone's dirty mouth in clinic or OR/procedure room.

I wish I had a logical explanation for that behavior other than what you mentioned but I don't, and we were not offered one.
At the end of the day this is their web site and they make the rules.
It would be unfortunate if they think that they need to limit the partial autonomy we tried to maintain in the past since it is the main reason why many of us continue to visit this forum.

So true, saw this all 4 years of med school....never got it

you can post in here as well i guess. http://www.ratemds.com/social/

Giving the dentist bad press is probably the only thing you can do without taking legal action. Maybe if you say you're an MD as well in the post it will carry more weight, since people expect doctors to stick together just like other professions do even when malpractice was committed.

If they have partners in their practice you can send them letters as well informing of what their partner has done. If your daughter was referred by her college/university to that dentist call up the school's health clinic as well so that no more students get mistreated. If that dentist has privileges at a hospital you can send a letter to the hospital as well asking them to revoke the dentist's privileges. maybe Call up the local newspaper to see if they want to do a public safety or a social story about this. if this is a semi-small town they might.

that's all i can think of right now.

Fasto, you could send that dentist a reference to this site.

That ought to scare the crap out of her (I think you said it was a she).

The thread was locked because it involved asking for medical/legal/dental advice, a violation of SDN TOS. This thread may soon have the same fate.🙂

You can't delete this thread b/c it isn't asking for any advice.:meanie:

Unless anyone wants advice on how to get rid of a pesky little f'in dentist. 😀

But to be exact (I hope the admin's read this) Fasto wasn't asking for any of the above. He didn't want to know how to medically or dentally (if thats even a word) deal with the problem. That has already been covered by his local dentist. And in the last statement of his post he mentioned that he already considered legal action but that was pretty much denied.

He was only asking us what to do next. And if our forum is only for anesthesia information then I understand closing it. But I have been a member for some time now and we all know that we cover everything. We talk about our cars, vacation, hobbies, relationships, etc. If we can't talk about this then where does it end. One of the coolest thing about this site is its ability to link so many different people in different locales. We all know each other in one form or another. I know what Jet does on weekends. I have spoken to Fasto on the phone, I have a inbox full of people wanting to join my practice after various discussions on this forum that don't always deal with anesthesia. This site has grown beyond the typical medical information forum. And the thread by Fasto was an example of that.

But now, once again we have an outside moderator trying to control the forum but doesn't understand the vibe here. This dentist guy has a history here. He voted to ban Jet. He has had more to do with this forum than all of you know and it was only a matter of time b/4 his ugly head reared itself again.

Serioiusly administrators, was the thread that bad? Was it worth closing? It was headed in the right direction due to some very insightful comments from some very intelligent individuals. Has your involvement in the anesthesia forum been fruitful once again?

I like to think of the Anesthesiology forum as the New Hampshire of SDN. We should have "Live Free or Die" added as the forum's subtitle (maybe "post free or die").

I thought we had already come to an agreement that the admins and off-service mods were going to take a hands-off approach with this forum and let the anesthesia mods handle things in here. Guess that's not the case. Either way, the push to close should have come from someone with less of a conflict of interest in the topic at hand.

Some folks can't refrain. They pretend to hang out here like a participating member until BAM their true colors come out. Yes, there was an agreement that the other mods would refrain from moderating in the forum but some can't accept the rules. Some can't separate their agenda from the power they are given.

I'll bet not one anesthesia mod has entered another subforum and moderated in it. But every couple months or so, some jackhole comes in here and stirs the pot.

I'll bet we don't see this tool around here any time soon.

Maybe it's time they started. I'm sure there are plenty of threads that are derogatory towards anesthesiology.

Well the problem is that the other subforums are so f'in boring that none of us can ever enter due to the shear lack of entertainment. Not to mention the blowhards like Aphisitis that rule them.

I'd prefer something like, "We stay out of your lame asre fprums and in return you stay out of ours."

But then again, it would be interesting if we all went to the dental forum and showed everyone there what a tool their moderator is.

If that's what floats your bubble, Noyac, go for it.

You're an idiot for posting again on this issue here, Slimmmster.

Especially against NOY, a prolific, educated, sharing, successful private practice anesthesiologist who gives a s hit enough to share his experiences here for the benefit of our med student/resident colleagues.

wait.....I can't remember.....

DID I SAY I THINK YOU'RE AN IDIOT???😆

sorry cant remember you know I'm 44 years old an all.....can't remember or not if I expressed my utter-soulful opinion about your idiocy....

Look, you're not going to goad me into picking up any gauntlets. I don't know Noy, but I'm sure he's every bit as good as what you're saying here (and have said elsewhere before). All I said was that if that's what he wants to do, he should do it. If you think that makes me an idiot, so be it. You're obviously not the first, and I can take my lumps.

I'm not looking for you to pick up a gauntlet, Slimette.

I'm looking for you to stop your bloodshed here in our GREAT forum.

YOU MADE A MISTAKE BY COMING IN HERE AND CLOSING A THREAD WITHOUT TALKING TO ARCH and it'd be nice to hear from you to own up to that.

Sure. I'd gotten comfortable reading and participating in the discussions here as a learner, but it was a bad decision to come in here unasked--especially considering the conflict of interest someone else mentioned--and close the thread without first talking to the mods here. I made a mistake by coming in here and closing a thread without first talking to Arch or you or Plank about it.

WOW.

A dude with accountability!

And honor.

We all make mistakes.

I respect you for that.

EVER MADE A MISTAKE, COLLEAGUES?

I've made a textbook full.

Dude here had the honor/guts to post what he posted above.

I know, Noy. I know.

Me personally, despite the past, forgive and respect the dude.

We all make mistakes so LETS MOVE ON to better clinical/snowboarding/monsta truck/lifestyle-what-we-do-on-weekends threads, OKAY?

Case closed.

....AWAITING NOY'S COLORADO SNOW REPORT......

No snow here which is why I've had the time to post lately. Having to resort to hockey on the weekends.

Aphistis is a stand up guy and admits when he is wrong. I and others, should really respect that.

Good job, Bill.

Aphisitis , thanks for your apology.

I hope this is the last time we have to deal with an outside mod in this way.

You're welcome. I just enjoy learning what I can here and participating where I'm able. I can't speak for anyone else (as everyone here knows, every so often someone ends up having to learn the hard way), but for damned sure it's the last time you'll catch me doing any policing in here.

Kumbaya, anyone? 😛
