So now that some of us have interviews... how many people per our POI are usually invited? (How many others for that particular spot are we competing with for?) I'm sure it varies by school, and I know generally schools invite 30-40 students for interview weekend, so is that about 7 people per professor that is accepting a student??

I'm also referring to a clinical PHD program.

It can vary by POI within a program, too. Some POIs ae are more or less "popular" in terms of research (think eating disorders) or more or less selective about who and how many people they interview (some may have a clear front runner or two picked out pre-interview: others may not).

I can only speak to my program: the average number of interviewees invited per professor is usually 5-8 for around 2-3 spots.
