So I ****ed up in bio. Got a 76 on the first test and a 69 on the second test. I plan on droping the course and accepting a WP. I have AP credit for first and second semester of Bio so I plan on just moving on to the second semester. Will this cause a problem later on during MCAT prep or application cycle?

Also if you could be kind enough of comment on my spring semester schedule.
Chem II
Physics II
English II
Statics (an engineering course)
Research course
17 credits

Thank you

P.S. It will be my second semester of freshmen year.

W's don't look good, and you don't know what may happen in the next 3.5 years of college. are you sure there's not hope to pull those grades up? you should have some more tests and a final left...

also, why is this happening? if you got the AP credit, it should be mostly material you've seen before, so i don't understand why you're struggling. don't put yourself in the same situation in the spring by not pinpointing the reasons why you're struggling now.

doesnt the class have a curve or something...i mean i never had ap credit but my grades in first semester bio were all mixed up, i got 1 D+, one C-, and 2 B+ on my tests and managed a high B in the class.

The problem is the prof. I know the material on the test but the tests are impossible. The average for the first test was a 70 and 68 for the second test but he dosen't curve anything. His average GPA is 2.7 but he was the only prof. I could fit in my schedule.

I'm not sure about this, and someone can definitely correct me, but at my school after a certain date, a normal W isn't an available option and a WP is given if you don't finish the class...I think this equates to a grade of an F. So I would not advise doing that...you could probably at least pull out a C if not a B in the class. Go to the professor and get some help. A C would be more manageable than an F...

Easy now, quit looking over the edge and step back from the railing.

If you are going to panic everytime you drub a test you'll never get through ug - and your anxieties are only going to be amped 10X in med school. You need to work through this and develop resiliance - probably the most important life skill.

If I drop not, I will get a WP on the trascript for bio, but I dont think a WP equates to an F. A WF does equate to a F but not really counted in your GPA. Some one please correct me if Im wrong.

I think it is ok to get a W just make sure you don't get many more (preferably no more)

When it comes to the next semesters schedule, I think you might be taking too many hard classes- if you can't get through bio 1 when you have AP credit doing chem, physics, statics could sink your ship. You know what you are capable and where your strengths/weaknesses are so I could be wrong but I would be hesitant to take 3 hard sciences after struggling with such a basic one.
