As a new grad (Class of 2012), I've been working for WAGs in FL for 2.5 months. So far, things are going fairly well, though very stressful on certain days. Anyway, I just checked my e-mail and I received the following message from a staffing company/recruiter looking for a pharmacist:

"Hi Jon- I have a full time, permanent, Staff Pharmacist position open within a Specialty Pharmacy right here in North Miami/Miami. This is a full time, permanent, benefited position. This Pharmacist will be working M-F 8:30-5:30 (200 Rx's per day with 2.5 techs and 1 other FT Pharmacist). They will need to work every other Saturday (day hours) at a sister location (1 Pharmacist and 2 techs), less than 10 miles apart. When they work the Saturday, they will get a day off during the week.

This is an out-patient, retail pharmacy setting. We would like someone with retail and strong customer service experience that has interest in HIV, or preferably has HIV knowledge. Bilingual/Spanish is helpful but not necessary.

Please let me know if you or someone you know would be interested in this position. We pay a great referral bonus for a friend that is hired.

They are paying $100k with a quarterly bonus plan. They also have an extensive benefit package that includes 32 Days of Paid Time Off the first year.

They have a strong reputation for low turnover and overall employee satisfaction.
Please let me know if this would interest you or you might have a friend that is looking. I have provided further details on the job/job description below:

MONDAY - FRIDAY
DAY SHIFTS
8:30AM-5:30PM
AND EVERY OTHER SATURDAY
NO EVENINGS
OVER 6 WEEKS OF PAID TIME OFF YOUR FIRST YEAR (32 DAYS) (37 Days after 2 years)
10 DAYS OF VACATION
AND ANOTHER 5 DAYS OFF OF PERSONAL DAYS
8 HOLIDAYS/FLOATING HOLIDAYS
9 SICK DAYS (ACCRUE IF NOT USED)
401K WITH MATCHING
COST OF LIVING RAISE YEARLY
GREAT MEDICAL-DENTAL-VISION

Also, we send out a great referral bonus for you passing on the information to friend who we then find a position for now or in the future. If you plan on moving we work nationally in many facets of pharmacy and can help provide you with opportunities to look into, if/when that time comes. If your information changes (email, address, phone, career needs) please let me know as I can then make sure to get you updated positions in your local area. If this doesn't fit your needs, please let me know what would -Thanks "

As appealing as the above sounds, I am quite skeptical. So, what's the catch? All those benefits and days off? Really? Am I missing something here? I e-mailed the person requesting more information and I'll be waiting for a response.

S***, 32 days off 1st year? Sounds sweet, but is there something underneath the surface that you adults with life and job experience can inform me about?

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. 👍

The pharmacy is actually a typical Florida Oxycontin mill trying to look legit. Three months after you start the DEA will shut them down. Other than that no catch.

Hmmm. Think the DEA might pay for a pharmacist on the inside? Nice hours and two paychecks?

Seriously? I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not

Sorry I'm stuck on this, but is anyone else having a hard time wrapping their head around the amount of time off?

32 days PTO + 10 days vacation + 5 days personal

Wouldn't it be more of an either/or thing, i.e. either a PTO bank or a vacation/personal day combination? Because as written, it looks as if you get 47 days off/year... sweet, but a red flag indeed.

Unsure of the catch, but the above poster's suggestion of the mill is interesting.

Heh. I was reading it all as a line-list rather than a breakdown of the PTO bank. Thanks. 😳

The PTO doesn't seem that far fetched to me. It's pretty comparable to the PTO I have at my job.

Sounds like a gravy job to me....maybe I should look into getting a FL license.

Maybe the pharmacy is in a high crime area and has been robbed several times in the past year? If something sounds to good to be true....it probably is.

It's probably one of those deals where they lure you into contacting them about the job, then they say, "sorry, that position is filled, but I have this OTHER (aka crappy) job available."
