I've been thinking about the best way to answer this question. Its a pretty standard question asked by most dental schools during an interview but what is the underlying purpose of this question? My instinct is to immediately start kissing @ss and gushing over how cutting edge the school is and how much of an honor it would be to study here and wow you have such a great learning environment that fits my personality. Pretty much making it clear that I want to go to their school. I'm sure there are 100 different ways to answer this question and I thought of all of them... until I spoke to a classmate who was recently accepted to dental school. I asked him what did you say when they asked you, "so why do you want to come to [insert dental school]?"

His answer really surprised me. He said, "To be honest, I don't really care where I go to school, I just want to become a dentist." I was looked at him like he was an alien and said, "and they accepted you with an answer like that?"

But then I got to thinking, maybe this is not be such a bad answer. After all, apart from the research that you've done on the school though browsing their website, how can you really know if that particular school would be good for you. In the end, when asked, why our school? maybe they're just looking to see what your level of commitment to dentistry is. Would love to know what ya'll think!

I got accepted to a dental school and here is my advice.
Don't try to BS your answer just to get in.
They already know thousands of answers and how you would respond to them.

There is no right or wrong answer as long as you don't act inappropriate.

Always try to be yourself.
At the same time, try to be unique.
Dental schools like asking "what makes u unique"or"what makes u think u fit in our school better than others?"
U don't even have to give them chances to ask this to you.
Try to be unique the entire time throughout the interview.
Also, try to entertain them. Don't just make an interview into ask and answer type. Try to make them smile all the time.
It also means you should smile too and make a good eye contact.

As you already know, saying that [XYZ] dental school is my 1st choice because it got high tech this and that that others don't have will give you a rejection 😀
Try to think of something else besides the technologies and research they got.
How about this? Instead of saying that u guys got dental simulator! Say that hey, i like the tree outsides and studying next this tree will help me study better, or hey! this bathroom on the 2nd floor is the perfect place for me to study! I love it!!! (Of course these are not that good answers, but try to be unique instead of not being yourself)
