So with the CCM pathway now being set out, my understanding is that EM can now do a fellowship and get boarded in CCM. I'm a bit confused about how many programs have CC fellowships that accept EM physicians. NRMP says 435 certified CCM/Pulm positions available for IM physicians. I'm assuming EM can't apply for those since it is CCM and pulm? If so, where's the listing for the EM-CCM positions? Clearly, I'm quite confused...and any help would be appreciated.

If you look at FRIEDA, there are two pathways for IM-trained physicians to become board-eligible in critical care--pulm/CCM (3 years, 137 programs) and CCM (2 years, 34 programs). EM-trained physicians are only eligible for the latter of the two tracks.

Rumor also is some of the pulm/CCM programs will also accept 2 year CCM-only fellows but don't advertise widely.

http://www.emccmfellowship.org/ <-- site is a work in progress but has some useful info.

and the attached list, while a little old, may help as well as it lists various programs and if they have been willing to accept EM grads historically.

Probably your best option is to call programs you are interested in and just ask if they will accept EM physicians.
