So you're telling me that I'll be a 24 yr old making $80k+ a year?

Yeah when you're 35, if you don't have kids.

Did you take into account all the living costs, interest on loans, finding a full-time job, and taxes?

Finding a job being the biggest issue. I don't know if you've heard, but the Pharmacy job market is anything but stable right now from saturation....

Outside of "BFE", the job market is very saturated. After my shadowing of retail pharmacy, the primary job you hold as a pharmacist today, you do a lot of hard schooling with a lot of debt to enter a poor job market. 80+ applicants for a single job in rural areas with sub 50k people is common now. This is the reason I am not doing pharmacy.

My reasons are exactly the same as yours. It's only going to get worse as time goes on as well.

Who cares about the money? Just pursue what you want to do every day for the rest of your life and only then will you be the happiest you can be.

Even if you can't find a job in the field that you love right off the bat, doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it. Hell, even Einstein worked as a patent clerk for 2 years after his Ph.D before landing a semi-permanent position.

If you make 80 k your take home is 60 k. you will be living in a small house or apt and driving a toyota corolla....

TBF, 80k at 24 is better than probably 95% of people that age. Very few people make enough to afford a decent sized house without a second income these days. Not that I'm defending OP's goofy post.

Agree, 80k is great money at 24(or any age for that matter) but not porsche money. at 24 I was a paramedic making $6.50/hr. working 24 hr shifts.

Nope. The market is super saturated and jobs are just not paying those high salaries anymore unless they're looking for someone with really good experience.

My dad makes $225,000 a year, is 49 years old, and just bought a brand new... 2013 Chevy Malibu for $17,000. 😀

In Pharmacy.

If I completed a 6 year program?

I'll live in a condo & drive a porsche.:naughty:
Wait till you realize how life is, and when you get a wife that sucks you dry. And not in a good way. 🙂
