hello

do you know any good software to create graphs and charts

maybe specify SD and incorporate it in the graph too

thanks

There are many such programs and it sort of depends on what/your PI/lab likes to use. Excel can do this, but it won't look too pretty. For publications, I really like Kaleidagraph for ease of use and clean output, if you're not doing anything too fancy math/fitting wise. If you are, Igor Pro is great but it's got a steep learning curve.

Good luck!

Anyone have a good list for free software to use?

GraphPad Prism and Systat SigmaPlot are two commonly used programs for creating journal-worthy figures. GraphPad is very intuitive and user friendly. Both offer a free trial on their website, which would give you enough time to get the hang of it and make some plots. However, if your trial runs out and you need to go back and edit before submission (or worse, after reviewers ask you to change something) you will be screwed. I'd see if somebody in your department has this software installed on a common-use computer.
