I've already "solved" it, but by a different approach than the destroyer solution..

I was wondering if my method made sense/was correct?
or does the density have to be a part of the equation?

You are around the same answer only because the density happened to be 1.13 which can be rounded to 1. However, had the density been 2 gm/ml or more your calculations would have been off. So yes you need to include the density.

The density actually tells you the amount of LiCl that you have in the solution, Remember its a solution, so the 20g of LiCl is in a liquid state which doesnt quite tell you the mass. You need the density for that.
