Hi everyone,
i would really appreciate some input. Quickly, my stats are:
mcat: first was 31, second was 35
Cgpa 3.79
Sgpa 3.80
Nontraditional, post bac, did very well in the program (at least grade-wise)
120+ hours of medical related volunteer work
Many hours of non medical related volunteer work
Completed primary apps end of June, but my committee letter did not get submitted until 9/28 (i think pretty late).
So, i submitted 25 secondaries, and have only gotten two interviews. One of which was from my first choice. I was happy until today, when i got waitlisted from my top choice. This shouldn't really surprise me because i know i didn't do well on my interview. I blame it on the fact that it was my first interview and i was super nervous.
Anyhow, my second interview went really well (i think). But, though it is a good school, my heart isn't really into the place. People were nice, program seems good, but i just don't feel it. I should probably hear back from this school by the end on March.
though i feel good about my chances at the second school, i really don't know if that is where i want to go.
Should i start getting ready for the next cycle? If so, any suggestions on what i should do to improve my app? I never took stats or any upper division science courses, should i take those? Or, find some research, volunteer position? I don't plan to retake the mcat, so not sure how to improve my app with only 3 months left till the next cycle.
Or should i just (IF acceptted) attend the second school, even though I'm not to into it? I don't knew if i will fit well at the school, and i don't think the school will be able to offer me the opportunities that i might want during med school. But who cares, med school is med school? Or, does it matter?
Not sure why i only got only two interviews, i honestly thought i would get more. My options seem so limited now, and im hoping some outside input can help me figure things out...
Sorry for typos, and if my thoughts are disorganized. Writing from a phone is a lot harder than i thought it would be.
Thanks I'm advance guys...
