Hey everyone,

I'll start off by saying I am a 24 year old CANADIAN citizen matriculating into the University of New South Wales 6yr MBBS, in Sydney Australia in 2008. I was educated in the USA for my undergraduate degree.

I have some important questions that I have searched for high and low on these forums which have only been PARTLY answered.......I am posting in THIS forum because I want advice from the ENTIRE allopathic community, not just limited to one or two little threads regarding my questions.....

1) WHAT is the EASIEST route as an MD graduate from Australia to return to Canada or the USA for a residency as a Canadian Citizen?

2) For the 2006/2007 residency match cycle, can anyone tell me the most competitive residencies / specialties?

3) Are the USMLEs all conventional units? such as mg/dl ? or SI units? such as mmol?

4) I am very concerned as a prospective IMG about returning to CANADA or the USA for my residency. Reason being, as I am in the same boat with everyone else, I work my A*** off for 6 years in hopes of obtaining good post graduate training in my chosen specialty.......

5) Is the curriculum at UNSW PBL? what can anyone tell me about the curriculum?

PLEASE!!! I would really appreciate my questions answered, even if they aren't complete answers

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

PLEASE!!! I would really appreciate my questions answered, even if they aren't complete answers, anyone!!! calling all help! haha. I need to have my anxiety relieved somehow!! =]

Thanks!
Robert

Rob you have not started yet. You still have a few months to look into this in more details.

Why would you do a 6 year program.. you trying to bypass undergraduate degree??? Not recommended in my opinion.. some value of maturing while doing undergrad. Also I would suggest Irish Schools over Australian, if you must go 5 or 6 year programs.. closer to N.America.

Make sure you do your search.. and this forum may not be the right one.. the one below .. internation medical school is more appropriate.

Please don't send me private message asking me for more info.. cause I am not an expert on this issue.

Good Luck
