Some humor

Hilarious, but depressing at the same time.

"You should become a life coach..."

I particularly love how they get up slightly and then sit down again during the video.

Ha Ha! A friend posted this on my Facebook wall this morning. Hilarious and (unfortunately) so accurate!

Ha. Very funny. This is another favorite of mine...

Humor indeed because this is inaccurate! Grossly inaccurate!

Watching this you'd think psychologists would end up homeless upon graduation or something. Yes, I understand the distortions are there to arouse sympathy for life of a student but psychologist can easily make six figures after 5-10 years of experience (less or more depending on your connections, business savvy, etc), and no way is that comparable with a master's grad.

Yes, school is really hard. And if you go to school for a childish reason, like to be called a doctor, you probably shouldn't become a psychologist. And yes loans are brutal but many programs offer tuition remission and a monthly stipend. I'm talking about PhD programs. If you're Psy.D, you have my condolences.

In short, if you can survive grad school and get licensed, things get better and better and better. If you teach classes as a prof, well, that's one of the greatest jobs there is, in terms of job security. And respect. And prestige. If you're a psychologist in private practice, again, ch-ching! I know a guy who makes 200k and he's not even a good therapist.

If you want to work exclusively with the poor, don't have any business sense, or don't finish grad school or get licensed, yes, real tough for you, and I'm sorry. But this video, it's funny because it's so far from reality and it's mostly inaccurate.

Not every guy in grad school is gay or married by the way. That's homophobic and just stupid. I'm a guy and I'm neither gay nor married.

I am gay, and thought "Well, at least I won't have trouble dating someone in my program" lol! Also, I started to suspect that the information was either inaccurate, or based on the average Psych grad student, which now includes Psy.D.s and professional schools. When she mentions $100,000s more in student loans, I though, "I'll have more student loans from undergrad than grad, cause they'll be paying me."

Thank you.

this video made me laugh and also raise an eyebrow. i see so many mixed reviews and i have to remember that i just need to follow what i want!

I don't like those kinds of videos because it's like some cute cartoon characters with annoying computerized voices soapboxing for some random person who was too lazy or unable to do their own animation. Also, they're always so long!

Um, if your main motive is wanting to be called "doctor," then there is definitely a problem.

Though it is true that all of the guys I've encountered in grad school are taken or gay, but plenty of people date while in grad school. Heck, I'm doing it.

The student loan part is misleading, IMO, because PhD programs are funded.

Except for the loans statement (which is generalizing for the average clinical psych phd student). This video is pretty much spot on. Every undergrad who wants to pursue clinical psych should watch it!

I know you warned me not to get stressed, but that really depressed me, haha.

"I have to go home now to my studio apartment and feed my four cats. They also do not call me doctor." - This was hilarious.

Doctor: Have you thought about rehab?
Patient: Rehab does not work for me. They want me to quit heroin, crack, valium, alcohol, speed, and PCP all at the same time. That's just crazy.
Doctor: Who referred you to our clinic?
Patient: My dealer boyfriend. He got disability and he only hears half as many voices as I do.
