Hello all, fairly new to sdn, but I wanted to write to anyone struggling or doubting themselves right now around the end of finals. I didn’t do as well in my first science classes as I had hoped, (A in Bio for majors, and a C+ in gen chem 1). I am writing for the individuals who feel so discouraged and cast away, those who feel questioned and pressured by loved ones who want you to give up and leave this behind. If you have chosen this path, you have answered the calling to aid the sick, to be an advocate for people who can’t advocate for themselves, and to be the only shield between your future patient and death. The good thing about medicine and science is, eventually the statistics WILL work in your favor. You will get in, and you will be someone’s savior. You will combat the ever expansive chasm of disease and suffering. My professor said it best
“Don’t let your laziness and self doubt be the reason a mother has to bury their child”
You WILL succeed, and it is all in your hands, the world needs physicians, so please do not let yourself or others tell you that you will not be one of them. Good luck to you all, thank you.
