Hi guys...I recently changed my mind from doing pharmacy to dentistry. I did some research on this board and otherwise, but still have a few questions. I'll really appreciate any feedback.

Firstly, here are my grades.

Gen Chem 1 B
Gen Chem 2 B
Gen Bio 1 B
Gen Bio 2 A
English 1 B
English 2 A
Orgo 1 C
Orgo 2 B
Phys 1 B
Phys 2 C
A&P 1 C
A&P 2 B
Elementary Calc. C
Some humanities courses with mostly As and some Bs.

I just finished my junior year. I messed up my first two years of college at a community college. This third year when I transferred to a four year university as a Bio major, I am doing much better (Third year GPA is about 3.56). My overall GPA for all three years is about 3.2.

I am taking Calculus 1 in this summer at my community college.

Now, I want to retake Organic 1 at the community college (where I first took it). I can't take it at my university because it's too expensive. Is that a good idea? Will it look weird to repeat Orgo 1 after taking Orgo 2 and Biochem (Bs in both)? I'll try my best to get an A this time.

My other question is that do dental schools look at ONLY the prerequisite GPA or do they look at the GPA for entire 4 years after you complete your bachelor's?

Also, I wanted to ask if dental schools look down on taking classes at a community college. (My top choice is University of Maryland).

My last question is that is there a (realiable) source were one could look for the GPAs of previously accepted students in dental school?

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks in advance.

You should continue taking courses at your university and not at the CC. Some dental schools do not accept credits taken at a CC, especially for those in pre-reqs, and many recommend taking it at a 4 year university. I don't think it's necessary for you to re-take Orgo 1 anyways since you made above a C- and did well in Orgo 2. If you do well on the Orgo section of the DAT, it should offset the C in Orgo 1.

When you report your grades to AADSAS, you have to report ALL grades, even if you repeat any courses. Once you enter your coursework, AADSAS will compute your science, non-science, BCP, and cumulative GPAs.

If you want to look at the GPAs of accepted students for particular schools, the information can usually be found on the school website or you can purchase the ADEA Guide to Dental Schools. You can also check out predents.com, although that only showcases a limited applicant pool.
