hi guys! i have some questions regarding LORs and EC's

1. do you guys recommend using the school's letter sending service (which costs more) or Interfolio? really I don't care too much about the costs, I just want the one with reliable service. I have heard good things about Interfolio here while for my school, I haven't heard anything good or bad so.....

2. when is the best year to ask for LOR's if i plan to apply end of my 3rd year? if I start asking sometime in my 2nd year is that too early (since I might have more stuff to put on my resume by my 3rd year)?

3. when asking for a LOR, what do I need to give the prof? a resume and a personal statement or is resume enough? and is the personal statement just explain why I want to go to med school?

4. I'm planning to make a website where I post lessons on sciences and things like that so hs or college students can come and get extra help. where I would I put this under in my application?

thank you soo much!!! please help me out

1. I used interfolio and loved it, but it might be easier for you to use your school's service. It depends on how they run it, I guess... you can keep letters in interfolio for a couple years, I'm not sure if your school's service is the same.

2. Ask when you think the professor/writer will know you the best. I asked all of my writers in April before I applied the first time. This time, I reused a letter from that first cycle (couldn't get in touch with the professor for an update), and asked in early May for updates on my other letters, as I had been in touch with the professors the previous year.

3. In general, give what he/she asks. I had one professor who wouldn't write me a letter unless I got a certain MCAT score, and then asked for my personal statement and resume. Another professor had me write a short paragraph biography, and another was content with a resume. If they don't ask, I generally give them my resume and my personal statement, so they can get an idea of what the adcoms are going to see.

4. You'd put it as an EC. As for the classification, it depends on what you want to consider it: volunteer, leadership, or other.
