So I'm new and insecure about my chances for pharmacy school. I promise I did a search, but still found these questions unresolved:

Would substituting my BMI in place of my GPA increase my odds?

I think the PCAT is too mainstream. Are there any cool indie pre-pharmacy exams that I can check out?

Should I include "playing doctor" as a child under the experience section of my pharmCAS, or should I lie to look more serious about pharmacy by saying I "played pharmacist"?

Thanks for the info! Y'all are great! Now back to work...

😕 EVERY school looks at GPA

the PCAT is the only exam pharmacy schools consider. lol im confused about your "cool indie pre-pharmacy exams" lulz😱

I am in no position to judge your PS. but IMO I don't think any Adcom is gonna buy into the fact that you wanted to be a pharmacist ever since u were 2:meanie:

.... I was bored and trying to be funny. Apparently nobody got that though. 😳

I got ur sarcasm. But i didn't know if u were trying to be funny or not, so I treated this as a serious thread not to be rude. sarcasm can't be detected in writing u know

Yeah, I know that. Even though I've lurked here a while, I forget that I haven't posted enough for people to just know when I'm being sarcastic.

BMI, ftw. 👍

I got it right when you said BMI 😛

You'd be surprised where a good BMI gets you.

Only if you're

1. A girl and not a "butter face"

and

2. If you wear clothing which exhibits aforementioned good BMI.

I am pretty sure I never get anywhere being in shape because basically everyone doing hiring / interviewing is a male.

Meh. Luck of the draw, my friend. That Y chromosome falls short this time 😉

I thought it was cute, but a bit too clever for it's own good (the joke, not the OP). If a joke has to be explained, it wasn't a good joke.

I think it would have been better to save those lines for the threads that need them (and that they were appropriate for) rather than grouping them together in a new thread. Better luck next time laura. 👍

As for the comment that sarcasm cannot be detected in print...it's called reading comprehension. It may be harder to "get" sarcasm in print, but really the OP could not have made it more obvious unless she just came right out and said:

Warning - The following comments are being used in a comical and/or fictitious manner. Sarcasm may abound. Please read at your own risk.

Some kind of a disclaimer would have been helpful.😛

True. But can you do the amazing yoga poses I can do? Heh.

I'm pretty amazing at yoga and I'm a guy sooo.....😀

...wait is that even something to brag about?😕

Satires are not always obvious too!

I really liked reading your EB White quote after this post. 🙂

This depends on the school, and on what your BMI is.

Playing doctor might help, as long as you can convince the admissions committee that you won't be using your PharmD as leverage for a later medical degree, like many on this forum. Also, be sure to talk about any leadership opportunities you had out of these experiences, and how it helped you grow as a person.

Just the use of "kthx" in the title tipped me off that it probably wasn't a serious post...

I think instead of your BMI you use your (average) BAC.

Perhaps I should include working toward my plate at Flying Saucer as an extra-curricular activity. I mean... it speaks volumes about my determination toward achieving goals.

well OBVIOUS sarcasm is easily detectable...and trust me perfect RC doesn't arm u with the tools for detecting sarcasm. I just didn't wanna be rude and prematurely judge the OP. you don't know, man, you don't know. What if he really thinks that you are suppose to have a good BMI, you don;t know that. He could be seriously looking for a indie pharm exam.

I know several students who flipped out on undergrad admissions officers because the students thought that it was unfair for the admissions committee to use their GPA to determine their admissions. you never know

well..what?
If someone honestly believes those things they are really sheltered, they shouldn't be going into pharmacy if they don't have even the slightest knowledge of schooling, and I don't want my medication expert to have virtually no common sense.

average BAC here is 0. Does that get me in anywhere?

I think you have a shot as long as your PCAT score matches your average heart rate. You might not get into your first choice though.

a guarenteed "in" to Pharm school is to have super powers. I'm lucky, I was bit by a spider.

Fair enough.

I am curious, what does arm someone with the tools to detect sarcasm? I used to think it was related to intelligence, as in you must be at least *this* intelligent to get it. But that's not right, I have know several people much smarter than me who are hopeless when it comes to sarcasm. So I don't think it correlates with intelligence. Maybe height? What do you think?
