Just thought I should mention that I've taken the DAT twice and all 6 of my passages have not recently been mentioned on this forum. No alligators, bridges, or pianos, or whatever! I wasted a lot of time freaking out before both thinking I was certainly going to get pianoed or ethics! But guess what...there's a lot more passages out there than are mentioned on here. So the moral is, don't freak out..if you get it (pianoed)--deal with it...but there is a good chance that you won't!

All 6 of my passages were equal to Topscore in difficulty and way way way easier than Achiever. That doesn't mean that yours will..maybe I just got lucky (twice in a row?)..but the time that you waste worrying is just useless. Or at least it was in my case.

Haha I was hoping someone would say that. After my 17 in RC on Achiever, I was starting to get worried 🙂

good! Stop worrying because I got a 14 on Achiever lol. But 19-20's on Topscore. Basically no one knows how you will do..but practicing is the best remedy. Worrying is sooo pointless. You cannot control what exam you will get..so let it go. 🙂

I think Achiever's RC is still good practice considering the passages are scientifically dense enough and typically kept at 1500 word length, on top of the piano type questions that generally come along ...

I can't say what was on my test...on Achiever a tone question is like..

"What was the author trying to say.." just questions that could go either way based on the tone of the passage. IMO, a tone is anything that is not a fact. It's a feeling you get when you read the passage.

So "The liver emulsifies fats"...there's no way that's a tone question. It either does or it doesn't.

I think you should do fine on the real thing as long as you know how to time yourself properly when dealing with harder passages. Just don't be complacent with your higher practice scores than OP or others. You need to develop a strategy that will always work for you.
