I take the DAT March 18th and I am really scared. I have been studying the Dat Destroyer and crack dat. my scores:

CRACK DAT SCORES:
SNS: 17 TO 18
PAT: 18
RC: 20
MATH: 17 TO 19

Destroyer:
The firt time i missed like ever other question, this time around i understand it a little bit more.

What can I do from now till test day to relieve my anxiety and to improve my test scores. IM FREAKING OUT! PLEASE HELP ME

Reschedule it. Give yourself a month or two.

CrackDAT for science isn't any good.

Everyone does bad on Destroyer the first time. Do it a second time and then a third time and maybe a four. Review the rest of the materials over and over until you get them.

Buy Chad's questions for GC and OC. Also datQvault for bio.

Do all this and your'e set for a good grade.

Don't be scared. Be angry. Be the hunter that hasn't eaten for days and must catch this prey in front of him or he will die.

I can't reschedule the exam, trust me i tried. I already feel like i am going to fail and i am already thinking about how am i gonna to better prepare myself the next time around (send my baby to her father's for three whole months and limit my work hours from 50hrs to 20hrs a week and two weeks before the test take two weeks off)! I am absolutely going crazy!!! I think i need anxiety medication : (

How much time did you take in preparing?

I went through the Destroyer twice, and kept practicing Crack PAT until I was averaging 20-21 on it (scored a 23 on the real thing). Your score usually goes up 1-2 points.

If you can't reschedule, read Cliff's AP Bio for a crash course on anything bio (should take a day or so to get through), do the challenging problems you're unsure of in destroyer chem, and do 2-3 PATs a day for the next week. Hunt down the pdf of the free ADA DAT 2007 and sit down for a full-length mock exam.

More importantly, relax!! SDN seems to freak people out with accounts of insane study rituals (reading Campbell's cover-to-cover comes to mind). I and my classmates didn't feel the real DAT was harder than any of the study materials. It's definitely much easier than the Destroyer. The PAT is about the same as Crack PAT (easier on angles and cubes). PM me if you have any questions. 🙂

Yes you can reschedule; try harder. Either way your chances don't look good.

I think you answered your own question. You need more time and if you have a baby there is almost no way to get work done when they are awake and around. Cut back on your hours and make studying for the DAT your full-time job. You only need 6-8 weeks if you dedicate yourself to just that. I have 2 kids so trust me I know how challenging it is.

ha they don't look terrible. It seems like you're on the right track with your studying if you can pull off high teens in the practice material. Consider postponing for just a few weeks, maybe you just need a little more work on the basics. Have you watched Chad's videos and done his quizzes? They are, by far, the most powerful prep material out there for the chemistries when utilized properly. I never bought CDS, but it seems to be a very unpopular tool (the descriptions I've read seem to all agree it's too specific and tests you on the nitty gritty, like spelling, rather than big picture concepts).

I don't think anyone feels totally prepared going into it. You fee like your entire life rests on this one test. I remember driving to take my DAT, after getting 17-18 and on my practice tests, thinking "well if I don't do well I'll just settle for some other career, no big deal." I walked out with a score in the low 20s, one that I was VERY happy with. I almost couldn't believe it. I've kept my test paper, I feel like I should frame it or something.

Point is, don't freak out. Whether you decide to stick with the date or move it back, just don't freak out. Thousands of people go through this every year and 99% of them feel unprepared. I have kids too so I know what that's like. You can do it.
