For those of you who are interested in watching a movie which deals with medecine, I recommend "Something the Lord" .
It is a fact- based story of a white surgeon and a black lab technician who revolutionized heart surgery amidst the racial injustice of the 1940s. It is a very good movie.

Is that avaliable on video to rent?

I watched it yesterday on cable : HBO on Demand.

I am pretty sure it is also on video.

It just premiered on HBO last Sunday. Their website probably lists the times they'll be showing it again.

My dad recommended this movie to me as well.

I think I need to go check it out.

Something the video store might have?

I think so... everybody on this forum should see that movie, it is an order.

I didn't know that this was the movie I started watching. It just draws you in, a really wonderful movie. I know they're repeating it because I had flipped it on another day before I actually decided it was something worth watching. Plus, Alan Rickman is the surgeon, he did quite a good job. Then the next day I went to see Harry Potter and watched him as Professor Snape. What a range! 😀

Read the book describing the same story, by Vivien Thomas himself. I forgot the name of it, but just google it or find it by author search (somthing like Healin the Heart).
It is pretty good, and there is some decent medical detail if you're interested. I posted about this when the first thread concerning this movie was up.

They did a review of this movie on NPR, it sounded excellent. 👍 However, I no have cable, so can't watch. 👎
