Soonest interview date.... in Jan

Realistically, if the school's soonest interview date is in mid Jan and you receive the II in mid Nov, does the rate of post-interview acceptance decrease substantially? Or is it negligible? I hear a lot about "interviewing for a waitlist spot" and I wonder if this sort of situation may play into that.

For what it's worth, it's an in-state interview.

A lot depends on the school. In January, almost all the time you are interviewing for a spot. I would say the soonest you are interviewing for a waitlist seat is end of February (its happened to me). So you should be okay.

Great, thank you. I think it's advantageous being an in-state applicant. But with the DO cycle drawn out a little longer, it seems as if Jan invites is still right in the thick of things.

You will be fine. In general, March and April are the "interview for the waitlist" months.

Honestly, your performance in the interview will matter much more than the time you get an interview. If anything, use it as motivation to do better. Speculation does nothing but create unnecessary anxiety. Work on what you can control.

Who cares, just play the hand you were dealt and stop worrying about it. I started getting interviews in January and it all worked out well (I was a late applicant). Just do well in your interviews and you'll be just fine!

A January interview is fine. March/Arp is when classes fill up and Adcoms start getting picky.
