Hi everyone,

Quick question about credit hours on the SOPHAS application. I've gone to UCLA for undergrad (quarter system)--would the credit hours be equivalent to the number of units for the class? Is this the same for semester schools as well?

Thanks!

As I understand it, SOPHAS "credit hours" are whatever units your school uses as long as it is not 1 unit = 1 class, which few schools actually do. I just put the # of units on my transcript as the # of "credit hours." I've attended 3 schools, using the quarter, semester, and a combination of the two systems. SOPHAS already approved it (calculated the GPA).

as far as i know 1 quarter credit does not equal to 1 semester credit. sophas goes over your transcript to verify the grades and gpa, then calculate them accordingly. depends on the school and classes you take, they vary.
