I know SOPHAS calculates a cumulative gpa, and an upper division (everything after the first 2 years) gpa, but do they also calculate others? like major gpa, math, sciences? Thanks!

Never mind:
Q: How are the SOPHAS GPAs calculated?

A: SOPHAS will calculate numerous GPAs. The GPAs and hours will be summarized by academic year within undergraduate (freshman through senior year), post baccalaureate, and graduate work as well as summarized by area of study (based on the course subjects you have assigned to your coursework). There will also be a running total GPA for each academic year that will add all coursework together for an overall total GPA. The GPAs that will be calculated are:

Level
Lower division undergraduate
Upper division undergraduate
Undergraduate cumulative
Graduate
Post-baccalaureate

Subject
Biology/Chemistry/Physics and Life Science
Business
Math
Social/Behavioral Science
Other

Does anyone know how much the subject gpas are weighted? All mine are solid, except for the math gpa, due to only taking 3 math coures and receiving a C in one.

They dont calculate major GPA unfortunately.

As for how they are weighted, it all depends on the school(s) you're applying to and your concentration. If you were looking at biostats it's going to be scrutinized more than Community Health.

Thank you! I will apply to Health Policy and Management programs, at Cal, Emory, UCLA, and Columbia. My overall and upper division GPA are above avg. for all programs, extracurriculars are solid, and will take the GRE next month. I'm hoping the math gpa won't be a red flag.

I wouldn't worry too much then!
I am starting Emory in...2 weeks?!
My GPA (particularly math) was not extremely strong but I made up for it with solid experience, rec's, and my SOP.
