So i took the DAT 2 weeks ago and have just been really busy with school but finally got a chance to do my breakdown.
Bio - 22
GC - 18
OC - 20
RC - 21
QRT - 19
PAT - 25
TS - 20
AA - 20
Bio - I used the kaplan bluebook, destroyer, schaums bio and cliffs. Kaplan is really general, if you plan on getting at least an 18 on the bio then you have to use other sources then just kaplan. Schaums is a really good resource. Its boring to read the chapters but their really detailed and definitely help with the more detailed questions. Cliffs is also a very good source, not as detailed as schaums but if you do both then your golden.
I read over kaplans and made about 100 flashcards. Then read over schaums twice and made another 100 flashcards. I also did the bio section of destroyer and made another 80 flashcards. Although i only made around 300 flashcards, they were full of information. I pretty much spent everyday going over my flashcards. With 2 weeks to go i basically read over cliffs just as a supplemental. Anyways as a lot of other people mentioned, bio is random but definitely do able. KNOW THE CONCEPTS!!! their not going to ask you what is this or that. I had a lot of small scenarios and then had to use concepts to find the answers.
GC - Honestly thought i was gonna do a lot better so i was pretty disappointed. But as other people said chads is an amazing tool, defintly helps if your not good with gc. Also go over destroyer at least 3 times.
OC - Again do chads and destroyer and your golden
RC - i didnt think i was gonna do this well in RC. I pretty much did 3 of the achiever tests and all the topscore tests and i honestly thought the RC of the dat was easier then both of these. I read over the first 2-3 questions first, then i quickly read over the passages and then started answering questions. Honestly i dont have anymore tips, just dont panic and if you dont know the answer then maybe spend a minute on it then skip and come back later.
QRT - Did math destroyer, achiever and topscore. Best tip i can give you is read the question and if you dont exactly know what to do then guess and skip. If you spend too much time on a question YOU WILL run out of time. Qrt is all about time management.
PAT - Ive always been pretty good at the pat and didnt really practice it much. I did achiever and topscore for this and I thought it was the pat on the dat was much easier then achiever and easier then topscore.
Overall im pretty excited about my scores except for the gen chem. Was really hoping for 21 overall but ill take 20. My imo the best method to study is using flashcards. I made flashcards for all the science sections and went over then everyday and it definitely helped. Also DONT get discouraged with the achiever scores. I know a lot of people do achiever and like most others i got ass rammed on all the achiever test scores and still ended up doing 4-10 points better in each section on the real dat. Hope this helps.
