Hi,

I will be applying for neurology next year and am interested in programs in the southeast. If anyone interviewed at emory, duke, or unc...I would appreciate it if you can please post your impressions of these programs.

Thanks.

I interviewed at all 3 programs....
emory -- awesome place, everything you could want in program, nice city, big program

duke -- lots of fmgs, nice people, low-key college town

unc -- up and coming program, former UCSFer heading up program, very awesome place, hi-key college town

if looking in SE, consider other strong programs (through anecdotes from future colleagues) -- UVA (2 people from my school actually ended up here), Vanderbilt, UAB, Miami, Wake Forest

I have a friend who interviewed all through the southeast this year also...
Emory -- good program, great city, call all years, most rotations at large county hospital, but great overall experience
UVA -- great teaching, good program, small city, not much to do if single, good college town
UAB -- great program and residents, call every week only as pgy 2, better if married, not sure if single
Vanderbilt -- smaller program, good city, good program - up and coming; good call
Duke -- more fmgs, research oriented, rumored to be malignant
UNC -- up and coming, good college town, will probably be better in few years
Wake Forest -- great teaching, chairman stepped down, city is pretty small

Any thoughts on Miami or MCG??

I've heard Wash Univ is awesome; any info about Georgetown?
I've also read from some of the other threads about Baylor going through some changes.. Does anyone know the latest?
