And the med school is associate with Carbondale, right?

(The relevance is minimal, but it's just one of those things that gives me "common ground" with patients, when they say "Springfield", and I mention President Lincoln and the med school, and that SIU has 2 divisions - Edwardsville and Carbondale. Then they ask if I grew up there, and I say "no".)

To the first question, the two main undergraduate campuses are Carbondale and Edwardsville. The first year of SIU School of Medicine is in Carbondale, and the subsequent three years are in Springfield. All SIU SOM residencies are based in Springfield at Memorial Medical Center and St John's Hospital.

To the second question, we have been Accredited for 6 residents per year.

Congratulations, SIU...That's great!

I might also clarify that SIU does have residency programs outside of Springfield. Specifically, ones that come to mind are the family medicine programs which are in Springfield, Carbondale, Quincy, and Decatur. Beside that technicality, her point is that anyone interested in the emergency medicine program at SIU should know that they will be in Springfield, IL for the residency.
