Specializations and schools

How important is the school name for specialization? I realize that prestigious schools have better specialization rates, but I am particularly asking about the following schools: UPitt, UMaryland, and Case.

Are there specialization rates available anywhere?

I think I'd like to specialize and between these schools, which one would be best for that?

If there is a P/NP at one of these schools that might give you more time to concentrate on taking GRE (for ortho), USMLE (for OMFS). However, you can specialize from any one of these schools, if you work hard. Pick the cheapest.

I think I heard that grads from Pitts boast a 50%+ specialization rate

It really depends on the student. If student is really smart and want to specialize, he /she will specular no matter what school. Choose the cheapest one.

Specialization is much more student dependent, rather than school dependent.

Obviously not much. Do you know the difference between correlation and causation? I stand by my point that the ability to specialize is much more dependent on the student, rather than the school they attend. I understand your sentiment, some schools may give you a leg up purely due to the name (read Harvard, Columbia), and other schools really focus on producing great GP's. But you can pretty much specialize in anything from anywhere if you do well in D school. Just because certain schools attract students who want to specialize from the beginning, doesn't actually mean they are better at producing specialists, just that they produce more.
