does anyone haev a ny idea about training programs which directly lead to one of the specialities, once u match int o the residency...eg adolescent n child directly without having to apply again for the fellowship after residency...i heard university of iowa was one place which had such an option.
any input will be appreciated,thanks

Most programs these days that have child/adolescent allow you to switch into it in mid residency, converting your 4th year of general psych into your 1st year of fellowship, essentially finishing in 5 yrs total.

ok..so basically u cannot applu for it before the start of urresidency and that if ur found eleigble during ur residency u can switch to that in ur third year.so are child fellowships competetive or does anyone have a good chance to continue into child if they want to,out of the residents?

There are a few programs that have a combined Adult/Child program. The one's I know about are Pitt and UMass. I think Brown does as well. With Pitt, you just apply to their Adult program and tell them you want to do child. With UMass, you actually apply to the combined program...not sure about Brown. There could be others...But i think it is correct that a lot of programs have an unofficial way of doing a combined program and that is something that can be worked out with the program.

Hope this helps.
