Hey guys...I'm struggling with something here, hope you can help me out.

I'm trying to decide what school I want to attend based on the opportunity to specialize. However, I think I'm a bit confused. I love ortho and endo, but I also love general....so, as you can tell I don't just want to do one thing..Is that the same as specializing? (i.e. if i specialize in ortho, I will ONLY be doing ortho) What is this business about getting certificates (rather than specializing) in certain specialties and does anyone know anything about it?

Hope this is not too confusing...i just need some advice on the difference between specializing and getting a certificate (basically).

THANKS!!!!!!

You love ortho and endo?? Wow, Join the other 98% of predents who have never stepped foot in a dental class to even know what those two specialities deal with....

If you love ortho and endo so much, you must have shadowed an orthodontist and an endodontist, so why dont you get them to answer your extremely basic and obviously easy question....

I love money.... Yulp, that's right... money 😉

They are one and the same. And, an orthodontist is limited to practicing ortho, just as an endodontist is limited to practicing endo. A GP, however, can do as much ortho or endo or whatever else as he pleases, providing he can meet the same standard of care that those who have specialized can provide.
