Just to get a better idea of how competitive it is to get into these specialty programs. Does anyone know what percentage of applicants to orthodontic, endodontic, pediatric and prosthodontic programs actually get in and how many don't. Is there someplace I can get this information? Thanks.

Hi Hope7,

As for the specialties you mentioned, it really depends on which dental school one attends. Some dental schools like Harvard, Penn, Michigan, UCLA, and Connecticut have a solid reputation for being able to matriculate most (if not all in some cases) of their dental students into the specialty programs of choice. Also, it depends on the particular dental class from year to year. Each year, the amount of students applying to a particular specialty can change. And last, the popularity of a certain specialty seems to fluctuate every few years. Hence, the competition to be admitted into that specialty changes.
