Does anyone out there have any good information regarding specialty stats? Like working conditions, average hours per week, salary, need in a certain state, etc? Particularly with endo and pedo? Any links or insight would be great. Thanks guys for sharing time and thought.🙂

I don't know how trustworthy any of these salary charts are. That's the highest number I've ever seen for perio, and I've seen others as low as $100,000 in the specialty. Take it all with a grain of salt until something reputable pops up.

why do pediatric dentists make more than gen.pracs?

Because they have hygienists who see patients every 15-30 minutes and thus produce more money because of flouride treatments and sealants. Very lucrative.

wow,

its pretty interesting to see people are already thinking about specialty. i say we just worry about getting into dental school for now and worry about this stuff later.

not that i am saying we can't talk about it, but i am just amazed that you guys are so ahead of yourself!

Amen. Work on getting IN to dental school first, then focus on getting good grades there, THEN maybe think about making a decision on specializing after you've had a chance to maybe, y'know, LEARN about them first.

...But then again, what would I know?

People around this joint are so uptight! Loosen up a little. The reason I am looking into specialties is because I would like to get a general idea of what is out there. Isn't it better to do some preliminary research now vs. when we're in class? I have the time now! I've done all I can do otherwise and I am just waiting for my interview appointment to come up. Ligthen up cause I don't wait to be in class all day with people who have jellybeans in their bums... Have fun with it & dream a little!

no hard feelings here.

i am still dreaming about being a dental student next year.
back to bed now!🙂
