anyone know of a way to speed up lecture files for use on an iPod?

thanks

Audacity takes a little while to actually process things. I don't have an iPod, but according to - http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html - you can adjust playback speed on an iPod. Much faster than actually changing the file around.

that says you can adjust the speed of audiobooks. this can be done in the settings menu of our ipod but the fastest speed is 125% of original. if your lectures are in mp3 you must first use itunes to convert them to aac file format and then you must run a script (can be found on the internet i dowloaded it but forgot the location) to convert the aac file to mb4 format which is the audiobook format, this is required to get the file to show up under audiobooks in your ipod menu and actually play at the faster speed. alot of trouble for only and 25% speed up. if you just want to speed it up on your computer use windows media or winamp for pcs and quicktime for macs.

Windows media player would do the trick on your computer
(Edit: noticed glp mentioned it, but here is how)

I don't use it to play mp3s but since everyone who isn't an apple user has it, works great for being included free.

Start menu, Programs --> windows media player

while the file is playing, go to view and then enhancements. Select show in enhancments. Click till ' playspeed settings' shows up..
Adjust the bar...faster or slower....

for Ipod do what GLP said - but it sucks it only does it so much faster - not worth the hassle of converting the file.
