spider bite cure

Thats actually pretty funny. I love how they make it seem like the spider bite was responsible for him walking. It was actually his 8 months of rehab that helped him walk. The spider bite was just the reason he ended up in the hospital where I am guessing a physiatrist evaluated him and set him up for rehab 👍.
It would be really funny if you kept some fake spiders in your pocket and everyone someone mentioned the story to you just threw a few at them. You might even see some of them jump up and run away. Maybe a good way to rule out malingering.

Oh and by the way brown recluse spider venom contains "a minimum of eight or nine different enzymes and proteins, including alkaline phosphatase, esterase, lipase, protease, hyaluronidase, hemolysins, levarterenol bitartrate, and sphingomyelinase D. Sphingomyelinase D is the most important and most active enzyme in brown recluse spider venom. Sphingomyelinase D is implicated in the disruption of nerve impulse transmission and in contributing to cutaneous anesthesia". (http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/405814_5)
But the regeneration of the damaged nerves is still theoretically possible.

OK, you just made me burst out laughing 🙂

I tell the patients what you said, that it was the rehab that did it, not the spider. So we will not be distributing spiders any time soon.
