In a typical accident case a settlement will usually be reached 13 to 18 months from the time the Attorney first takes on the case. At inception, SPIN has no knowledge of the case. After the attorney is contacted, investigates and confirms the viability of the case, patient will usually put into a Physical Therapy program with a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist for four to five months (blue arrow). If at the end of this period the patient still has recurring problems he will then have an MRI done. If the diagnosis at that time proves up continuing spine problems; it is at this point the Spine Surgeon will be introduced to the case (orange)

The Patient will then begin their stage of diagnosis by having the patient's files reviewed by an associated Spine Surgeon along with a patient consultation. After review of the case, the specific problem area must be isolated. This is done by the pain doctor doing a Nerve Block injection at the possible problem point as shown by an MRI, using real time x-ray. If the patient gets immediate relief from the injection, then the problem area has most likely been identified and further treatment will be recommended. If the problem still exists, then a second or possibly third injection may be required. SPIN then bills the case $5,500 per injection. (Without SPIN, the case would typically have this procedure done by a hospital that could charge in excess of $10,000 per shot)

In a significant number of cases, where surgery might normally be required, there is an additional minimally invasive treatment available using a very specialize injection device. This treatment is called a Percutaneous Disc Decompression (Perk) which can be done as a single or double. The "Perk" is billed out at $25,500 per injection. While the Nerve Block is strictly a diagnostic treatment, the Perk is a treatment for solution of the problem.

Once the treatments have been completed, the local center is paid a lump sum by SPIN by the 10th of the following month at a reduced rate that takes the local center out of the case. From this point forward, SPIN now waits for the case to settle to receive the share of the settlement that reflects the amount billed vs. the amount settled.

$5500 for a SNRB? WOW! SIGN ME UP!!!

$25K for a Perc-D, a procedure basically proven inneffective?

they have investor information, in case you are really interested..

SPIN through its ever growing list of affiliated Spine Injury Diagnostic Centers currently coordinates two minimally invasive injection procedures, Facet Nerve Blocks (Facets) and Percutaneous Disc Decompressions (Perks) to, in the case of Facets, assist the Spine Surgeon in diagnosing the specific problem area, and in the second case, Perks, provide a long lasting treatment to alleviate the patients pain.

because patients only need 1 of two of these procedures to get better...

I felt dirty just reading that website...such a disguisting mixture of business and "medicine" under the guise of patient care...when organizations like this can thrive (or even exist) you know the system needs to be corrected.
