I search forum for work hrs/salary/usual day for Sports Med fellowship trained FM docs but couldn't find much.

Are there jobs specifically for sports med trained FM docs after fellowship? What do these jobs entail?

When is latest to apply for Sports Med Fellowship?

Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated

If you have butt problems, you go to the gastroenterologist, and then to the colorectal surgeon if the problem is operative. If you have seizures you go to the neurologist and then the neurosurgeon. Chest pain, cardiology, then CT surgery. Any musculoskeletal problems (acute, chronic, sports related, not-sports related, LBP, etc..) should go to sports medicine, then the orthopaedic surgeon if its operative. Most orthopaedic injuries are non-operative anyway and can be managed by primary care sports medicine. Don't worry about salary, it will be plenty (or maybe you went into medicine only for the money?)

Check the NRMP website for information on deadlines.

thethom, may I ask why you have your board scores on your signature line?

They (along with my current career status) lend to credibility on a message board laced with overly opinionated responses. Oh yeah and I'm proud of my hard work.

Do you find them offensive?

They lend to credibility

Mmm...not so much, actually.

If you want credibility around here, quit saying things like "if you have butt problems, you go to the gastroenterologist."

not offensive, maybe just a bit pompous. it screams "I didn't end up in FM, I picked FM." i am also a top performer who is most interested in FM and i'm a tiny bit concerned about being sorry later, so i really did just want to know where you were coming from. i see that you very recently graduated, so congratulations. sorry i hijacked the thread!

Jesus ... he probably just threw them up there.

Heck yeah, I DID pick FM, which is different than what most of you guys on this board assume about those that go into FM. Against all odds I did well on the boards, which only bothers those that didnt. As for worrying slightly about going into a particular specialty, I think everyone wonders about that at at least one point before residency, during, or after. The neurosurg guys at least think about it when their families leave them, and the derm guys certainly do when they consider the limited scope of their practice.

And Janitor, you of all people should understand how using uneducated terms like "butt problems" as a physician is in some way a joke. You chose the name "Janitor," yet you're future DOCTOR...hmmm

Jaggerplate, you're a dope...

OK, I'll play.

I didn't take exception to your use of the term "butt problems." I took exception to the notion that patients should see a specialist for any given problem. If you have a "butt problem," you should see your primary care physician, not a gastroenterologist.

Do I really have to explain this to you...?

You chose the name "Janitor," yet you're future DOCTOR...hmmm

Actually, my mother named me that. Are you going to start making cracks about my mother now?

Umm dude, what the hell? I was trying to defend you because everyone was jumping down your throat based on assumptions. All the proof anyone needs there though, bash on. Dope.

lets bring this back to the original topic please.

I've stopped being defensive about choosing FM-- one of these days, you will too. At the end of the day, it is a job and as long as we r happy in it, why bother to rationalize?
