my husband is making over 170K last year. Does his income affect my subsidized or unsubsidized federal loan application? Can I still get financial aid? I just want to pay my school by myself.
I tried to find the "income" brackets for federal loans and couldn't find anything. If you didn't many any money last year you might have a chance. But most likely you will be responsible for a large portion of your tuition due to your husband's income. Some schools also require parents income (no matter how old) but usually that is for school scholarships and the like. Their main basis will be FASFA.
This link will help you find your EFC for this year. Maybe someone who is in your similiar situation can comment.
You will get unsubsidized, but if you didn't make anything last year, then be sure you are filing separately. It may cost more upfront in taxes, but you will (likely) be qualified for subsidized loans.
