Problem:
I will finish my pre-reqs at the end of this summer (including biochem). I doubt I'll have enough time to really make an attempt @ an MCAT. If I don't, then I'm sitting with pre-reqs done taking another year of UG classes. The GPA points won't hurt, but with my # of hours they won't really help that much.

Basically, I'll be sitting @ HES this winter w/ somewhere around a 3.1GPA & a solid MCAT. I'll probably have missed the app cycle and since I'm not a strong candidate even if I do make it the chances aren't too great. Do I have any options for Spring?

I was thinking that I could try to start an SMP/other MA in Spring and apply next year with a semester of graduate grades. I'd also have 4 semesters (2 Springs, a summer, & a fall) to finish whatever master's program it is and start med school. Anyone know of a program that starts in Spring? Anyone have any better advice on a timetable? I'm taking biochem & a full year of orgo in the summer, I really don't think studying for the MCAT is reasonable on top of that. I just feel like taking another year of non-pre-req UG classes is a waste of time.

*Edit* - to add, I have zero research (but don't plan on applying to research-intensive schools) but my EC's are pretty solid. Would taking a smaller amount of classes and doing something great on the side be better than an SMP?

Not on the original topic, but is the feedback about Cinci's new program still all very positive? My advisor mentioned them to me and that they may have a linkage (or a big boost to apps).

Wow, Max, in the space of five minutes you managed to ask a question, ask another, unrelated question, and then answer your own question, all in the same thread 😛

I'd go for the MAMS, as far as I know, GU doesn't do spring admission.
The word spaz quickly comes to mind, no? I'm surprised I haven't been banished to dial-up only to prevent things like this from happening. 🙂

I was afraid that MAMS would be the only program. No knock on them, it just sucks to have only 1 option. I've also heard a lot of complaints about the program not giving any bias towards MAMS students. It is nice that I'd get to stay in Boston - anyone get to see the snow today? 🙂

Also, MAMS apparently accepts GRE's - so this option could work well for me. I hear the program is pretty tough - is it bad enough that you won't have time to study for an MCAT? TIA

Pickings look slim.

Does anyone know of a graduate program that has an application date late enough to include an August MCAT & matriculate? I know it's a long shot, but I figured I'd ask. I could always take the GRE's . . .
