Hello everyone! I've been looking through the DPT threads, trying to gather some information about the St. Augustine San Marcos program from the student perspective. I would appreciate any feedback on the program or mind to answer any questions:
  1. What is the class size, how does it affect your learning experience?
  2. Professor availability for help after class hours/learning resources/facilities
  3. What made you choose USA over another program?
  4. What kinds of resources does USA offer to help prepare you for the boards? (practice exams after program/each trimester?)
  5. Class culture?
  6. Clinical settings/community outreach opportunities
  7. Or any pros/cons that are worth mentioning
Thanks in advance!

2.Professor availability for help after class hours/learning resources/facilities
Most professors are willing to answer your questions and explain things again.
There is a library with textbook, models (for anatomy labs), online resources cover most information you need to pass classes.

4. What kinds of resources does USA offer to help prepare you for the boards? (practice exams after program/each trimester?)
To study for the boards, they will tell you to know everything from all the classes you have taken (which is unrealistic). The entire program is preparing you for the boards (the same with any other school). The format of the tests you are taking during the program will prepare you to the format of boards questions.
We had an exit exam which had the exact same format as the boards, so when you are studying for the exit exam you will be studying for the boards as well.
I found only one 9 year old online book in their library to prepare for the boards. they may have more books available in the library, not sure. But just for the future, all you need is Therapy Ed book (can be an older edition) to prepare for the boards.

6. Clinical settings
They have been sending students for internships out of state because they "could not find anything closer." You are allowed to submit a new site request for your potential internship and the school may try to contact that clinic and see if if the clinic wants to have you there as an intern. I was lucky to have all my clinicals in my area. Most of my classmates had 1 inpatient, 2 outpatient clinicals.

7. Or any pros/cons that are worth mentioning
It's just an normal average school. It could have been managed better, but I had no major complaints about it.

thank you for taking the time to answer my questions! 🙂 very much appreciated!
