Hello everyone. I was recently accepted to LIU and St. john's University pharmacy program. LIU and St. Johns gave me the same amount of scholarship. However, LIU is a bit closer than St.Johns. For LIU I would need to take one train to Brooklyn. In contrary, for St.John's I would need to take two trains and a 15 minute walk. Also for LIU i was accepted in the honors college meaning the class size would only be 17 students, while in St. johns it would be 200+. Advice on where to go? PS the class size would only remain 17 students for only 2 years

If you're talking about the LIU prepharm program, then I strongly suggest you go into the direct SJU program.

If it's prepharm go to st John first cause you can always transfer to Liu if you don't like the traveling but you can't do it the other way around since st John doesn't take transfers. I got accepted into the Professional phase in Liu but did my pre requisite at another school and many students say the professors for like orgo and math are horrible which I didn't need to endure. But for professional phase LIU is more convenient but you get a chance to see how the other school is. It's a really nice school and the new pharmacy dean is cool

Thank you for helping me. It is greatly appreciated that you are taking the time to comment back to my questions. If you don't mind me asking, do you attend St. john's?

Ahh thank you for your reply. I will definitely consider it. How do you like LIU? (Professors, Campus, Program, people,)

Currently at LIU. Go to SJU. Way nicer campus. Great pharmacy program. Also, if you keep your grades up, you will not be resent from the program. NOW if you come to LIU and do bad in your pre-requisite work, you have a zero chance of getting in. They will only look at a 3.0 and above and if you fall short it's basically a "thanks for the $64,000 in tuition, now go to Touro." I'm in P-2 and it's alright I guess. Chem teacher's suck. Math teacher's suck. Basically, you have to be like Bear Gryll's and fight all on your own. Go to SJU man. Unless you want to do more clinical work (hospital, research)then go to LIU. SJU is a big center for retail pharmacists. So basically all your Duane-Reade dudes and gals all went to SJU pretty much. Good luck man!

Thanks! I mean I've been interested in clinical work as well. Will i still have the opportunity to go into clinical with St. Johns?

I like Liu there are many perks and it is in downtown Brooklyn. If you go to liu it's that brand name your paying for. Most people in hospitals and retail went to liu. They keep changing the curriculum and the exams for the professional phase will be on iPads only. I would go to a place that's convenient cause there will always be bad professors everywhere.
