When I use to work in a pharmacy, I would usually work two days/week and I really hated standing all the time. For the people that work more, how do you handle standing all day? Sure, you get used to it... but I think it still bothers most people.

I work 4 10-hour days, where most of the time is spent standing up. It took me about a month to get used to it. The key for me is to balance my weight with both legs and to move around as much as I can. It is also wise to invest in some comfortable shoes. 🙂

Any brand shoes better than any other? My feet and back are killing me from volunteering to help with the senior care flu shots yesterday.

Shoes are definitely key! The Pharmacist and I take turns doing excersizes when it gets slow around the pharmacy 🙂 He's a big work out buff so it's nice to get the blood pumping! We'll occasionally get lazy and pull out stools too.

Have you guys sat on those massage chairs at sharper image or brookstone? Well, I was thinking that it would be great if they had massage chairs at pharmacies b/c some of them really focus on your legs. Just imagine reinvigorating your legs during your 15 min break... 😀

You get a break? :wow:

ummm...well I live in cali, i believe that if you work more than 6 or 7 hours you're required to take a 15 minute break...is that suprising?

If you want a pair of shoes that will last you forever and treat your feet nicely, you can buy Mephisto. But, I think you have to graduate from pharmacy school before you can afford them. 🙂 What are they like $300/pair?

Just something to look forward to... when you go on a long vacation and come back your body has to get used to standing all over again.

have you worked in retail? All they do is stand all day, but at least they get to walk around. I've worked as cashering though and i'm kind of use to stanidng 40 hours a week.

The Quark Quarky shoes (I'm seerious).... (you can get them at online but they also sell them at our bookstore...)

They come in a ton of colours and once you get used to them, you will not regret having a closet-full. 😍

(tons of consumer reviews on zappos.com, too... many ppl in the medical field...)

Yeah, I see many nurses at work with these. 🙂

I have a pair of dressier birkenstocks
i also really like clarks.

while doing rotations we are required to wear dressier clothes and shoes than even some of the pharmacists wear.
