Fellow neurophites,
Just wanted to give you my impression of 2 programs that I recently completed away sub-i's at...
Stanford/Neurocritical Care - great program, very laid back... moderate patiient load. the faculty seemed quasi-enthusiastic in teaching... its heavy research oriented... if you're interested in stroke, stanford is definately the place to be... palo alto is a beautiful city; san fran is a nice 30 minute drive away... some people would also call palo alto 'shallow alto'... overall, a good solid program...
Cornell/Neuro Onc - an excellent program, definately at the top my list so far... excellent faculty who are involved in teaching, great noon conferences everyday... NY hospital is beautiful and huge; across the street is sloan kettering which the residents spend a lot of time doing Neuro-Onc... there's a brand new Neuro-ICU at NY Hospital... NYC is awesome, all walks of life... housing is great... the Upper East Side/Yorkville are awesome places to live in Manhattan... overall, people are very friendly... i firmly believe that Cornell does not get the reputation that it truly deserves...
hope this helps any of you guys considering these places... have interviews set up at RUSH, Northwestern, UCSF, Stanford, Cornell, Tufts set up so far... i will post my views once i'm done interviewing at those places... hope to meet some of you guys on the interview trail soon... good luck~
