Stanford question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would think so....SFGH is the standard county type hospital. In addition, I think they still rotate through VMC in San Jose (another county facility) as well. Palo Alto isn't the country club it might seem. Their cachment area is all northern Santa Clara County and southern San Mateo county (which includes East Palo Alto -- one time murder capital of the US). There is a substantial indigent population (albeit not on the scale of SFGH or VMC).

UCSF is in the process of trying to get another EM residency up and running at SFGH. I don't know how that will affect Stanford's residents.

On a random note, I think Stanford residents have, by far, the highest pay among EM residents in the country.

Yeah, but it doesn't even come close to make up for the extra cost of living in the Bay area.

That being said, I will be moving back up there at the end of the month....Got a job opp I just can't pass up....However, unlike the residency salary, this job will more than make up for the cost of living in the Bay area... 😀

Hey Spidey,

I'll be moving back out there too (in July)....if this offer you can't refuse includes the ability to hire freshly-minted, residency graduated, board eligible, EM docs throw a bone my way for SDN's sake...

🙄
