I am trying to determine which of these programs to rank higher. I got a great feeling from both which is what is making it hard.

Surgery: ?Roughly on par (very very good numbers)
Clinical exposure: ?roughly on par (busy county, busy VA, academic center)
Reputation: UCSF > Stanford
Fellowship match: UCSF > Stanford (though not that much of a difference)
Happiness: Stanford > UCSF (but barely)
Location: UCSF > Stanford (but barely)

Sounds like you've made the decision easy for yourself

It doesnt feel that way. Which program did you think I was biased toward? Perhaps I've made a useful Freudian slip

Based on your criteria you give UCSF the edge in most categories. Most would agree with that. Sounds like its settled.
