I attended a small liberal arts school where I followed the pre-med track for my first two years of school. I took Gen Chem 1 and 2, Calculus, Cell Bio, Zoology, Botany and Organic Chemistry 1.

To make a long story short, I freaked out halfway through my sophomore year and, even though I had a 3.5 in my pre-med courses and was doing research that I enjoyed, I changed my major to political science, which is what I ended up graduating with. Throughout the rest of my studies, I focused on health policy research, so I still had a similar focus...I think I was just panicked because I wasn't ready to commit to a career path.

Flash forward two years post-graduation and I'm enrolled in an MPH program and working for one of my state's most respected health policy organizations (as an administrative analyst) and my mind keeps going back to finishing my pre-Rees and applying to medical school.

My question is: should I start over or just pick up where I left off? The local university offers most pre-med courses in the evening and I actually get a tuition discount through my job.the timing seems right, I'm just curious what course of action others would follow.

Thanks!

Just pick up where you left off but prepare on your own well enough to be successful in o.chem 2. A stronger mcat prep might be a good thing to do as well. You might want to dedicate 2 or so months to feel confident with what you forgot before you do real review with practice problems.

Re-take any pre-rec only if you feel that knowledge decay would prevent you from performing well on MCAT.

Definitely start where you left off but be prepared to work a little harder to remember what you've forgotten not only for classes but for your MCAT as well.
